Fire crews were called at 1.17pm and crews from across the Service attended, along with three turntable ladders and other special service equipment.
On arrival, firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the building but were withdrawn due to extensive fire that spread quickly causing structural damage.
Crews worked hard with resources available to control the fire and prevent it spreading to neighbouring businesses.
Operations will continue for sometime as we get the fire under control. Staff have worked hard with our partner agencies to ensure the local community remains safe and the cordons will remain in place for public safety.
We will aim to open any closed roads as soon as possible, once safe to do so. We would like to thank partner agencies such as the police, ambulance and highways for all their tireless work and support.
We would also like to thank neighbouring fire and rescue services that have provided support and cover at some stations to ensure resilience across the Service area.
