UPDATED A3 Closed following Serious collision near Guildford

The A3 in Guildford is currently closed northbound between the A31 and the A322. Surrey Police lead the response to this incident and are currently working with their emergency service colleagues in response to a serious collision.

Highways England has resources headed to scene to assist with traffic management.

There are long delays of at least 30 minutes above usual journey times on the approach to the closure.

From the A3 northbound, leave at the Cathedral interchange. At the roundabout, use the 4th exit and join Egerton Road.

Pass beneath the A3. At the roundabout following, use the 4th exit and join The Chase.

Join Madrid Road/Guildford Park Road and follow into central Guildford. Pass Guildford Railway Station and continue to a roundabout beyond. At the A31 Farnham Road roundabout, use the 1st exit and join the A31. Continue to the A322 roundabout. At the roundabout, keep left and follow to the A246/A322 roundabout. Use the 1st exit and join the A322 (Woodbridge Road).
Follow the A322 to the A25 T junction. Turn right onto the A25 (Ladymead) and follow to the A320 Stoke Road junction. At the junction, turn left onto the A320 and pass beneath the A3. Follow to the roundabout beyond. Use the 1st exit to rejoin the A3 northbound.

Police investigating the incident have issued a direct appeal for witnesses to contact them after two  vehicles were involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

Officers appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between two cars and a pedestrian earlier this evening (Tuesday, 3 December).

Officers were called to the A3 slip road near Guildford Cathedral at around 6pm following reports of a collision involving two cars and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
