Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are warning of an evacuation of residents in the Andover area this morning(Sunday).
Southern Gas Networks are understood to be having issues with isolating the Gas main that supply a large number of homes and businesses in the area
The effected area is King Arthur’s and Camelot Close
Fire crews from Andover have been mobilised to the incident
The collision into the gas main is involving a Van
Residents in the effected areas are being warned not to smoke or turn on light switches if you can smell gas to open windows and leave the property.
Do not attempt to use your phone in the effected area
A rest centre has been set up at a near by Public house details to follow.
Emergency planners for Andover council have also been contacted
It’s understood that the car has hit a main near to the shops on the road
Police officers are currently attending the effected properties asking residents to leave
Hampshire Fire and Rescue and other partners are also working with police in respect of the incident that happened in the early hours of Sunday
Officers from Hampshire police are currently working with Southern Gas Network and have advised a number of home may need to be evacuated as a result of a collision involving a vehicle that has hit a gas main
It follows a serious collision that has damaged a major gas main in the town just after 1am.

Many residents he reported smell a strong smell of gas and have left and taken refit is a place of safety away from the effected area.
