Detectives investigating the murder of man in Monks Park have released the name of the victim

Detectives investigating the murder of man in Monks Park have released the name of the victim.

He has been identified as Kwasi Mensah-Ababio, 26, who was from Neasden.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Police were called at 7.05pm on Sunday, 7 July by London Ambulance Service (LAS) to Monks Park, Wembley, NW10, close to Monks Park Gardens.

A man was reported to have been found unresponsive in nearby parkland.

Officers and LAS attended and found Kwasi with head injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination took place at Northwick Park Mortuary on Wednesday, 10 July and gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and have made two arrests.

Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested on Thursday, 11 July at separate addresses in Brent.

They are both currently detained on suspicion of murder at a north London police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, said: “We are still appealing for information about this crime. A young man has been killed and his family left devastated and we need people to come forward and tell us what they know. This was a horrific crime.

“We can only stop these offences with the support of a determined community. Please contact police, or if you prefer to remain anonymous contact the independent charity, Crimestoppers, where you will not even be asked for your name. Your information, no matter how small, could be vital in making our streets safer for our young people.”
