Murder investigation launched after man is shot in Monks Park Wembley

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in Monks Park.

Police were called at 7pm on Sunday, 8 July by London Ambulance Service (LAS) to Monks Park, Wembley, NW10, close to Monks Park Gardens.

A man was reported to have been found unresponsive in nearby parkland.

Officers and LAS attended and found a man, believed to be in his late 20s, with head injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course and formal identification awaits.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Enquiries into the full circumstances continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “We are launching a major investigation, but we will need the help and support of the community to bring those responsible to justice. We urgently want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, especially if you saw or heard anything suspicious. Any details you can provide, no matter how small, could be vital.

“We need to hear from you if you saw anyone hanging around or leaving the scene, either by car or on foot. If you want to, you can call Crimestoppers with information and you don’t have to give your name.”
