Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore Lifeboat launched to investigate a DSC Distress alert from a yacht off Bembridge

Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore Lifeboat launched to investigate a DSC Distress alert from a yacht off Bembridge.

‘RNLB Norman Harvey’ (D Class Inshore Lifeboat 778) was launched this afternoon at around 2.35pm at the request of Solent Coastguard to investigate a DSC Distress alert that had been received but without any follow-up voice message from a yacht thought to be 2 miles NE of the Station.

Having checked with one yacht in the vicinity of the location given and confirmed that they were not in any difficulty, the ‘Norman Harvey’ was stood down when the Chichester Harbour Master located the yacht thought to have made the alert in error. She returned to Lane End and was recovered by 3.00pm
