A former care worker Stephen Nicholson is on trial for the Murder of the schoolgirl:Lucy McHugh told Nicholson she was pregnant before her death, jury has been told. Lucy was found in a wooded area by a dog walker in Southampton Sports Centre in July last year.
The prosecution opened the case on Thursday Nicholson, 25, is on trial for the girl’s murder and a further three charges of rape when Lucy was 12 years old. Nicholson denies all charges against him.
The teenager had been repeatedly stabbed in the neck and upper torse using a blade that has to date never been found. The fatal wound was to her neck that was “catastrophic” the court heard.

A claim has been made that Warped Nicholson, who had a secret sexual relationship with the vulnerable teenager stabbed her in cold blood attack after she revealed to him that she was pregnant.
The carer worker also faces two other charges of rape and sexual activity with a minor.
Nicholson is also charged with underage sex with a child who can not be named for legal reason. The girl was 14 years old at the time. The court heard that the offence happened back in 2012.
