Detectives investigating fires in Newham and Waltham Forest are appealing for witnesses and information.
Police were called to outside a church in the Broadway, Stratford, E15 on Wednesday 19th June 2019 at 10am. Sometime between 7pm and 8am a fire had taken place and caused damage to the front door of the Church. It had been extinguished by the time police had been called.
Police were further called at 10.26pm on Wednesday, 19 June to reports of a fire outside a church in Cann Hall Road, E11. The informant put the fire out. Graffiti was also found scratched onto the church door.
At 9.10pm police were called to reports of a fire outside a church in Ramsay Road, E7. Graffiti was also found on the door. Officers and the London Fire Brigade attended.
At 12.10pm on Thursday, 20 June police were called to reports of a fire outside a church in Dyson Road, E15.
Officers and the London Fire Brigade attended. Again, graffiti was found on the door.
At this early stage in the investigation, the fires are being treated as suspicious and the incidents are being investigated by the North East area’s Community Support Unit, who are keeping an open mind as to the motive.
