Police appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Epsom in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It happened at around 3.20am on Sunday (9 June).
The victim and his friend were walking towards Clocktower Cars on High Street carrying an inflatable microphone, having just left the nearby Fever and Boutique Nightclub, when they passed a group of young men.
One of the men threw water on the victim’s friend, which led to an altercation involving the group of men.
The victim, a man in his 20s, intervened, but was then pushed to the floor, stamped on and kicked.
Three nearby men stepped in to stop the assault.
The suspects are then thought to have left on foot in the direction of Station Approach.
The group of suspects have been described as six or seven white men and one black man, aged between 16 and 20 years old, all wearing black Nike hooded tops.
The victim was left with serious injuries including a broken arm, which are not thought to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
The victim’s friend also sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital, but has also been discharged.
Detective Sergeant Kerry Akehurst said “This was a violent assault where the victim was attacked by a group of men in a public place. We believe a number of people might have been in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.
The victim and his friend were carrying an inflatable microphone just before they were attacked, which would have been noticeable and, we hope, will jog the memory of anyone who was in the area at the time.
