Police seal off Ryde Toilet block after man is found after overdosing on drugs

Police on the Isle of Wight have launched an investigation and sealed off a busy Ryde toilet block on the seafront near to the Ryde Pier cafe this afternoon. The investigation follows a man being found unconscious on the ground whilst the other man continued to shot up drugs.

Police were called after a concerned member of the public discovered the unconscious male on the floor and raised the alarm to get help just after 4pm on Wednesday afternoon. The second man continued to inject himself with a drawn up syringe and has been arrested by officers. The Hampshire andIsle of Wight Air ambulance was also called to the incident but the man was later taken to hospital by land ambulance.

A spokesman for the Isle of Wight ambulance service said that they were called to treat who person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance following an incident in the toilets at Western Gardens.
