World War two ordnance find sees Kingston placed on 24 hour lockdown

Police were called at around 09:15hrs on Thursday, 23 May, to suspected World War Two ordnance found on a construction site on Fassett Road in Kingston.

 

The item has been examined by specialist officers and we are continuing to seek the assistance of the MoD and other emergency services including the London Fire Brigade.


Officers are at the scene and cordons remain in place.

Police have advised that these cordons will remain in place until at least 4pm tomorrow, Friday, 24 May.

Roads within the cordons include: Penryhn Road, Beaufort Road, Beaufort Place, Fassett Road, Grove Lane, Grove Crescent, Bloomfield Road and Linkford Avenue.

 

There will continue to be an impact on local residents and traffic in the area.

Police have apologised for any inconvenience caused whilst this essential operation continues. Public safety remains our priority.

Displaced residents are asked to attend United Reformed Church on Eden Street.
