Police have this evening arrested a man following an incident at a property in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
A number of Police vehicles rushed to the scene near to the Co-op supermarket following a number of calls to Police after a concerned neighbour heard screaming and shouting coming from within a Milligan house. A large amount of glass has also been smashed within the carpark of the property
A witness who asked not to name said that a large number of officers arrived and have detained a man. He has since been taken away in a Police van.
Police were called to the street in Ryde just before 9 pm on Tuesday evening.
A Spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:”Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that they have detained a man and he has been taken into custody.
“Officers were called to a domestic incident inside an address at West Street in Ryde shortly before 8:30pm on Tuesday 21 May.
“A 44 year-old man was arrested in suspicion of assault and remains in custody at Newport Police station at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing”.
