Officers are appealing for witnesses after hate crime in Tower Hamlets

Just after 11.30pm on Tuesday, 7 May police were called to a food producer and restaurant on Stour Road, E3, after a swastika emblem was sprayed on a building by three vandals.

The three suspects were all dressed in dark clothing. One was travelling on a pedal cycle and the other two were on foot. They then left the location in the direction of the canal via Dace Road.

No arrests at this time, however, enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Fran Latham of Central East Safeguarding team said: “We’ve taken this report extremely seriously and are appealing for anyone who may have seen three people in the Stour Road area around the time of the incident to get in touch with us.

“We believe the premises may have been specifically targeted and behaviour such as this will not be tolerated.”

Anyone who has information is asked to call Tower Hamlets police on 101 quoting ref 4213598/19 or tweet @MetCC or call independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.
