Two suspected lead thieves arrested

Two suspected lead thieves were arrested after police found them hidden in a garden in Canterbury.

Kent Police was called at 4.51am on Wednesday 10 April 2019 to a report of two people removing lead from the roof of a building in King Street.

On arrival at the scene, officers saw two men running away.

A quantity of lead, believe to be stolen, was recovered from a nearby garden.

Officers searched the area and found a man crouching down in bushes in a garden in Mill Lane. A second man was then found nearby inside a shed.

A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old from Canterbury were arrested on suspicion of theft. They have both been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
