Two arrested after carehome lock down In Newport

Armed police officers from the joint armed roads policing unit from the Isle of Wight have descended on to a former care home in Newport this afternoon.

Five officers and a dog unit currently have the home in lockdown on Staplers Road in Newport.

It follows report of a break in at the former care establishment.

Officers stated to arrive just after 6pm on Monday and locked the area down to catch two local Newport who’d gained access to the empty property.

Following a search by the Island dog unit two men were located and have both been arrested on suspicion on burglary.

Both have been taken to Newport Police station.
