Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have launched an arson probe after a house was targeted in an attempt to set it on fire in Freshwater.
Police rushed to Sunset Close off the High Street and requested the assistance of the fire service after 999 call was made from the resident who stated that the bungalow was filling with smoke just after 9pm on Monday evening. It is understood that a smoke grenade was posted through a letterbox. The house remains sealed off with an evidence bag attached to the front door of the targeted property. A middle age man was treated by Paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment. A Police dog and handler were deployed in an attempt to search for the person who is wanted for questioning by Police.
