A murder investigation has been launched in Tower Hamlets following the death of a woman in a residential property.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to a residential address in City Island Way, E14, shortly after 16.00hrs on Friday, 11 January, following reports of an assault.

Officers attended.

A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found with a critical neck injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 16.17hrs.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.

Her next of kin have now been informed.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.

No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.

At this early stage it is believed that the victim was known to the suspect.
