Teenager hit around the head with a belt and punched in park attack

Officers from Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of an assault in a park in Canterbury.

The assault is reported to have taken place in the Dane John Gardens between 11.15pm and 11.30pm on Friday 7 September.

A group of friends were walking through the park when they were approached by a group of between six and eight young people aged between 16 and 18 who became verbally abusive towards them.

One of the victims, an 18-year-old man, was hit with a belt and punched. He suffered cuts and a chipped tooth. Another victim, another 18-year-old man, was threatened with violence but was not assaulted.

One of the offenders is described as white, about 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of a large build and with short brown hair with a bit of a fringe. He is believed to be aged 16 or 17 and was wearing jeans.

There was one girl in the group who is described as white, 16 or 17-years-old, of a skinny build and with long blonde hair. She was wearing a black coat.
