Portsmouth London Road Northend Closed after Hit and Run of a Pensioner

London Road in North End Portsmouth has been closed by officers from Hampshire Road Policing this afternoon. (Friday 14th September 2018). The closure has been put in place following what is understood to be a Hit and Run involving an 80-year old woman.

Traffic was diverted via Kingston Crescent, Chichester Road, Stubbington Avenue and Gladys Avenue.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm and the road was reopened just before rush hour at 4pm.

The vehicle being driven by a man who has since been arrested after he mowed down the woman and then drove off without stopping. Police closed a section of the road and the pavement to assist in forensic examining of the road and to gather evidence.
