Career criminal David Uniacke Banged up for Four Years for Burglary

A burglar caught stealing from a Portsmouth house by the homeowners has been jailed for four years.

David Uniacke, 41, of Havant Road, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court to one count of dwelling burglary.

He admitted to breaking into an address in Cobden Avenue, Portsmouth, shortly before midnight on June 19.

The court heard how the homeowners had returned home at around 11.40pm to find Uniacke in their kitchen.

He fled the house, hopping across gardens to escape but officers were quickly on the scene and found him in a nearby garage.

Uniacke pleaded guilty in court on September 20 and was jailed for four years.

PC Paul Jennings, from the Operation Hawk team in Fratton, said: β€œThe conviction of this career criminal will help protect residents of Portsmouth from becoming victims of crime.
