Police Air support called to Lake on the Isle of Wight after Man Makes off from Police

The National Police Air support helicopter from NPS Bournemouth has been called to the Cliff Path in Lake on the Isle of Wight this morning.
The helicopter has been called in by officers from Hampshire Constabulary after a member of the public raised the alarm just after 11.20am on Wednesday morning.
The helicopter is currently carrying out a search of the cliffs from the football club ground and an area search of Flitcroft Gardens. Officers remain in Wilton Park Road in Lake. A police van remains parked on the road.

UPDATE:12.10 A number of Police officers have thrown up a cordon around St James Avenue, West Lake Avenue and Whitecroft Avenue after It is understood that someone has made off from Police from around the West Lake Garden.
Officers are carrying out door to door showing residents a Picture of the wanted mn and asking the resident if the man is seen to contact them on 999.

UPDATE:12.32 Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the search is as a result of an ongoing investigation into an allegation of threats to life.

The NPAS helicopter was called in at 11:15 when the male made off from officers.

The suspect has not yet been detained, but enquiries continue
