Seven thousand roof tiles stolen from Roof in Chartham

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses after a third report of the theft of roof tiles in the Canterbury area.

Seven thousand roof tiles have been reported stolen from a property in Garlinge Green, near Chartham, between Thursday 16 August and Saturday 25 August.

The thieves also took scaffold fittings and a wheelbarrow.

This follows the theft of 200 roof tiles from a crate at Canterbury Christ Church University in North Holmes Road, Canterbury, on Saturday 4 August and the theft of around 100 slate tiles from a building under renovation in Shalmsford Street, Chartham, on Friday 10 August.

Although officers are not currently linking the incidents they are asking people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by phoning 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.

Anyone with information about the theft in Garlinge Green is asked to phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/50262/18.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.
