Emergency Services have been called to a collision involving a Southern Vectis bus this afternoon. The collision has taken place near to the Folly Inn on the Whippingham Road towards East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The Road has been closed in both directions. Traffic is being turned in the large queue that has already formed Whippingham Road. Police officers are directing traffic
The number 5 bus service has been in collision with a VW Transporter van. Officers from Hampshire Constabulary and have been called to the collision. A number of ambulances from the Isle of Wight ambulance service are at the scene along with a Paramedic officer they are who is treating a number of people. It is unclear if anyone on the bus has been injured. One person has been taken to
St Mary’s hospital for treatment.
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, said: “One of our buses and a van were involved in a collision in Whippingham.
“Fortunately it was a minor impact. That said, the safety of those on-board and other road users is our priority. One of our passengers was holding a baby when the incident occurred, so we called an ambulance as a precaution. We are not aware of any injuries.
“Our bus sustained a small amount of damage but services have now returned to normal.”
