Police arrest man for grievous bodily harm in Winchester Following Street Assault

We are looking to trace a witness to an assault which took place on Upper Brook Street in Winchester.

It was reported that between 6pm and 6.50pm on Wednesday 15 August, two men were involved in a verbal dispute before one of the men was struck around the face with a torch.

The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered facial injuries as a result and was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment.

Officers have been told that a smartly dressed man came running over from the direction of the Brooks Shopping Centre delivery area, and we would like to speak to him about what he saw.

This man is described as:

• Asian
• Aged in his mid 30s
• 5ft 11ins tall
• Wearing a pale shirt and pale suit trousers

A 20 year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody at this time.
