The southbound carriageway of the Dartford Crossing has closed this afternoon after police have been called out for concerns for the welfare of a man threatening to jump off the QEII Bridge.
Officers from Kent and Essex Police were dealing with the incident, which is causing delays for motorists coming into Kent this evening during the rush hour commute home
UPDATE:4.45pm RNLI Gravesend Lifeboat have been tasked to assist police with the incident, further emergency responders have also been tasked to the incident. It is understood that specialist police negotiator is at the scene trying to reason with man.
UPADTE:4.55pm Police Officers have successfully reasoned the man down from the edge of the parapit and he has been taken away to seek specialist attention. Highways England have confirmed the contraflow system is about to be resolved and normal service will be resumed shortly.
