A woman who tried to pitch Tent in the Middle of River has been rescued by Emergency Services on the Isle of Wight. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor and the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service where called to the woman who had tried to pitch a tent in the middle of the River just after 4pm on Wednesday.
It is understood that the woman pitched the tent and than got stuck in the mud. Fire Crews from Newport and a technical rescue unit was also mobilised to the incident and worked in conjunction with the Coastguard teams.
The incident unfolded on the banks of the river. Two Coastguard officers used mud rescue equipment to commit themselves into the thick mud with a basket stretcher. The woman was than winched back to the waters edge and treated by Paramedics from the Isle of Wight ambulance service. Coastguard teams than made a second trip to recover the woman’s belongings and the tent and shopping trolley that a member of the public had used to try and rescue the woman.
