Gamble goes up in smoke

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remain on the scene of a fire in an industrial building in Eldon Way, Paddock Wood.  Crews were called to the premises at 3.16am. Six fire engines, a bulk water carrier and a height vehicle are on the scene and the fire has been brought under control. 

 It is understood a million pounds worth of gambling equipment has been damaged in the fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four main jets and water from a hydrant to tackle to blaze, with the height vehicle being used as a water tower. 

 

There are no reported casualties. People living nearby have been advised to keep their windows and doors shut. 

 

Crews are likely to be at the scene for some time today dealing with this incident. 

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
