Family Pay tribute to man who always put others first:John Westrop

Police have renews their appeal for witnesses and have named the Victim of Greatstone collision

The pedestrian who died following a collision in Greatstone near New Romney has been named as John Westrop from Lydd.

On Saturday 16 June 2018 at around 3.24pm a blue Renault Traffic minibus collided with 62-year-old Mr Westrop, who was walking along Dunes Road.

The incident happened at the junction with Hardy Road and the Mr Westrop was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in London where he later died.

A second man walking with him was also injured and was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Renault was uninjured.

In a tribute to Mr Westrop his family said:

‘John died suddenly on 16 June doing what he always did in life, putting others first. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

‘He sadly leaves behind a loving wife, children, grandchildren, brother and friends.’

Officers from the Kent Police Serious Collison Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who saw the vehicle being driven in the moments leading up to it.
