A 22-year-old man has been arrested today [Friday 25 May] on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Islington.
The assault happened at approximately 6.30pm on Monday, 21 May on Upper Street, near the junction with Tyndale Lane, N1.
Police and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to reports of a man having been stabbed.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man with multiple stab wounds. Despite attempts to save him; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
The victim is believed to be a 30-year-old man from Haringey, but formal identification awaits.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, said: “This was a brutal attack that was carried out on a busy street in broad daylight. I am asking anyone who saw the assault or has any information to contact detectives.
“In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around this time, who may have filmed any part of the incident on their phones or has dash-cam footage of the incident. Your information could be vital in helping us establish the course of events that unfolded during the early evening of the 21 May and what caused a young man to lose his life.”
