The Isle of Wight’s Mothercare store is included within a leaked list of stores across the country that are to close within the next 12 months.
As previously reported, Mothercare has announced that 50 stores are to close before 2022. The loss of around a third of the company’s outlets is with the aim of allowing Mothercare to return to a more stable footing, accelerate the transformation of the Group and drive it towards a viable and sustainable future.
It is yet to be announced which stores will be closing, however, a list has been leaked online showing that the Isle of Wight store – under Region 4 – will close within 12 months.
The Island’s only Mothercare store is currently situated at Gunville, Carisbrooke having moved from Newport High Street several years ago. It incorporates Early Learning Centre, which was also situated in the heart of Newport.
Other stores in the region set to close include Guildford, Aldershot, Portsmouth, Newbury, Reading, Salisbury, Newport (Wales), Weston-Super-Mare, Yeovil, Exeter and Plymouth.
Should the Island’s store close the nearest alternative would be Southampton.
