Owners devastated’ after Two horse dies in road Collision in Normandy Surrey

Killed Horses

Two horses have sadly been killed following a collision with a car on Westwood Lane in Normandy this morning (Sunday 26th November 2017).
Emergency services were called this morning after two horses where killed after being struck by a single vehicle. One of the horses sadly died in Westwood Lane and a second bolted died in nearby Flexford Road. Officers from Surrey Roads Police have attended the incident. A road closure has been put in place at the junction with Westwood Lane and Flexford Road and is likely to remain whilst the horses are taken away and the area made safe.
The riders of the two horses were unhurt Police have said. It is understood that the pair may have been on their way to attended an the Parwood Equestrian Centre Autumn Dressage equestrian event being held at Parwood Equestrian Centre when the collision happened. The driver of the vehicle has not been arrested and Investigations are continuing. The shocking incident has left the owners devastated’ after the pair both died at the scene. The owners were seen being comforted by friends.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a collision

The collision happened at around 9am in Westwood Lane in Christmas Pie in Guildford. The two riders, a woman in her 50’s and a girl in her early teens sustained minor injuries.

The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The two horses, were sadly put down at the scene by a vet due to their injuries. The driver of the car was unharmed.

The road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened.

Officers are urging anybody who witnessed the collision to call 101 quoting, P17297605.
