The Hard is a sea of Fire appliances this evening as firefighter deal with an incident at Brunel House in Portsmouth. It is understood that firecrews were called just after 5pm on Sunday evening to a possible fire at the empty tower block in Portsmouth. A number of fire crews from across the county have been called to the scene.
An aerial ladder platform from Southsea has also been called to the incident. Police have closed the road in both directions and the closure is also effecting buses access the bus station. The empty 18-storey tower block at The Hard has been subject to several fire alarm both real and false in the past. A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said :Crews from Southsea, Cosham, Havant, Fareham and the aerial ladder platform from Southsea, were called to reports of a high-rise fire at vacant property, Brunel House, The Hard, Portsmouth. All 10 floors of the building were checked and no signs of a fire were found. The building was then handed back to the onsite security team. The stop came in at 17:45.
