Two Winchester Prison Officer Sent for Trial over Misconduct in Public office

Former Prison Officers Barbara Dyer of Littlemoor Avenue, Bournemouth, Dorest 26, who was a member of the National Offender Management and Matthew Pritchard a former Regiment Gunner and Rapier Operator who Served at RAF Honington with tours of the Falkland Islands, Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait Of High Street Southwick are both face prison if found guilty.

The pair are charged with wilfully misconducted for having a relationship was that formed with a priosoner at Winchester Prison Pritchard also faces a further charge after he agreed to bring in pictures,letters and woman’s underwear for the prisoner named Powell who Dyer was having the relationship with.



Both Dyer and Pritchard will now stand trial at Winchester Crown Court later in the year. The pair are charged with Holder of a public office wilfully neglected to perform duty / wilfully misconducted himself / herself. Between 06/03/2017 and 06/04/2017 at Winchester, Hampshire while acting as a public officer, namely Prison Officers, wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducted yourself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder by conducting an inappropriate personal relationship with a prisoner. Contrary to Common Law.
During the short hearings both were advised that their cases could only be heard at the crown court because of the seriousness of the offences both have been released on bail until November.
