Two die in fatal Lorry Collision on A2 at Dover

Port of Dover Kent Monday 3rd July 2017 Two People have been left fighting for their lives after an over sea lorry driver ploughed into their vehicle minutes after the pair had return from a weekend away. The Romanian registered lorry was fallen laden on route to the ferry just after midnight on Sunday witnesses say the driver was on the wrong side of the road driving to the port when the incident happened late on Sunday evening. The main A2 into the port of Dover has been closed for nearly six hours and is likely to remain closed to aid with Police investigations and recovery of the lorry and the vehicle. Fire crews from Kent fire and rescue used specialist cutting equipment to gain access to the vehicle by removing the roof. Statement from Kent Police : The A2 Jubilee Way in Dover is currently closed in both directions from the Duke of York Roundabout to the Eastern Docks Roundabout while police investigate a serious collision. A car travelling up Jubilee Way was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry travelling down the road, near the entrance to the Eastern Docks. The incident happened at 11.55pm on Sunday 2 July. Jubilee Way is expected to be re-opened in the next hour or so. In the meantime, traffic heading to the Port of Dover is being diverted to the M20 and A20. Kent Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision in Dover.
At 11.54pm on Sunday 2 July 2017, police were call to a report of a collision on the A2 Jubilee Way in Dover, involving a yellow lorry and a black Nissan Qashqai.
The lorry was travelling down Jubilee Way towards the docks when it was in a collision with the car which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s from Canterbury died at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.
A second man, who was a passenger, also died at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to locate his next of kin.
Formal identification for both men has yet to take place.
A 51-year-old man from Romania arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving currently remains in police custody.
A 36-year-old man who was also arrested at the scene, has since been released without charge.
