that an electrician had been attempting to replace a fuse at a substation close to the Iceland store when the explosion happened, at about 10.30 on Wednesday morning. The force of the blast shot a cast-iron manhole cover into the air. Workers from Scottish and Southern Electric have been called in fix the problem that is in a main join box. Workers are having to work a live cable by digging down to expose and than relocate the cable. It is understood that this is likely to take a number of hours before power is restored.
