Barton Stacey Hampshire, Thursday 29th December 2016. A fire that has gutted two barns in the village of Barton Stacey near Andover is being are treating as suspicious it can be revealed. Forty Fire fighters remain at the scene of the blaze working in freezing temperatures. The temperature is in negative figures and the water run off from the blaze is freezing on the ground. The Street remains closed to traffic as frozen water lies on the ground. Six appliances from the north of the county from Hampshire Fire and rescue service were called to the incident, Crews from Andover,Overton,Rushmoor and Basinstoke attended along with two water carriers from Andover and Fareham. It is understood that blaze broke out this afternoon (Thursday December 29th). Relief crews are also being called in and are likely to remain at the blaze through the night.

The two barns holding approx 5,000 bales of straw caught alight this afternoon fire crews were faced with a significant fire which posed an immediate risk as the roof is barns are believed to contain Asbestos.
Flames engulfed the barns near to the Difford Kennels and Cattery and Dever Spring trout farm on The Street in Barton Stacey at around 4pm on Thursday with the fire continuing to spread throughout the evening.
No one has been injured in the fire.
