The body of man who was discovered in a Silver Renault Megane this morning is believed to missing pensioner 78-year-old Brian Richardson.
Police discovered the vehicle early this morning on the Claybank Road Industrial estate in Portsmouth. Major search efforts across the city had taken place and through the night in an attempt to find the distressed pensioner.
Police openly appealed on social media for information on his whereabouts following his disappearance from his Seagrove Road home in Portsmouth on Sunday evening.
Seven Police vehicle and specialists were at the scene and an area at the bottom of the estate was sealed off. Police have yet to confirm officially any details
Police had the silver Renault recovered for forensics examination from the Industrial estate just after 9am this morning. The vehicle was lifted on to a truck using a crane.

It is understood that Police are not treating the death of the man as suspicious. The Portsmouth coroner has been informed of the death and has asked police to prepare a file.
A Police source said that they are in the early stages of their investigation but it seems that the man has taken his own life.
The source went on to say they are not looking for anyone else at present in connection with his death.
Update: Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed a body in a car was found in Claybank Road, off Burrfields Road, this morning.
Mr Richardson’s family have been informed.
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Police searching for missing Portsmouth man Brian Richardson have this morning found a body in a car in Claybank Road.
‘Although the body has not yet been formally identified, Brian’s family has been informed.
‘We are preparing a file for the coroner.”
