Police hunt Con man after Vulnerable Pensioner Conned out of Cash for Work

Police have issued an efit image of a man they want to speak to after an elderly woman was conned in Pennington.

At some time between 9am and midday on November 11 a man knocked at the woman’s house on Hillside Road.

The man asked the woman if she would like him to do some work in the garden and then carried out the work for around an hour.

He then charged the woman £460 which she handed over in cash.

Detective Constable David Wheeler, said: “This man charged an excessive amount of money for the very small amount of work that he actually did. The man targeted this vulnerable woman and charged her an unreasonable amount of money. He did not provide her with a receipt, contract or any details about who he was or who he worked for.

“The offence he has committed is fraud by false representation, meaning that he vastly over charged the victim knowing that the work should’ve been a lot cheaper.

“I would urge anyone with information about who this man might be, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Wheeler at Southampton police station on 101
